Customise this Site

To aid site accessibility we've implemented certain features throughout our site. This page briefly explains how to use these features. For more information about accessible website design, please see our Web Accessibility page. To learn about the services we offer in the field of web accessibility, see our Accessibility Consultancy page.

Accessibility Features

Re-sizable text: To increase the size of the text (including headings, menus, links and forms) simply press the large 'A' in the 'Customise this Site' menu in the header (in the top right corner of the page). Pressing this button resizes the text one level; to further increase the text size simply press the button again. To reset the text size to normal, press the medium sized 'A'. To decrease the text size press the small 'A'. The text size and alignment is stored on your computer using a cookie, so next time you come to our site it will remember your choice of text size and alignment.

Access Keys: Some links (text, images or buttons that link to other pages or sites on the web) on the MicroAngelo website are assigned access keys allowing easier keyboard navigation of the website.

The reason for not assigning access keys to every page on the site is simple: we don't want to overload you with too much information (or too many things to remember). You can navigate to each section of the site using access keys, then use the Tab button to navigate to the pages without access keys.

How to use Access Keys in your Browser

Browser What to do
Internet Explorer 5+ (PC) Hold down the ALT key, press the number of the access key, release both keys then press ENTER

Skip Links: These allow you to skip over the list of links and navigation, to get straight to the content.

Press the Tab button and you'll see a message written in the top left of your browser window:

Skip to Navigation. Accesskey: Number 1

Press Enter or the method for using Access keys in your browser +1 (see the table above) and the browser moves straight to the navigation part of the page. Or press Tab again and the message changes to:

Skip to Content. Accesskey: Number 2

Press Enter or the method for using Access keys in your browser +2 (see the table above) and the browser moves straight to the content of the page.

Alt tags: All images on the MicroAngelo website make use of Alt tags to provide information to those unable to see the image.

High Contrast Design: A high contrast view of this site is available. To change to the high contrast view of the site please select “Choose Design Style” in the “Customise this site” menu in the top right corner of this site. This information is also stored in a cookie on your computer, so next time you come to our site it will remember. Alternatively, to view the raw content of the site (without any styling), in your browser's menu system: click View, Page Style, No Style (for Mozilla Firefox and Opera users only). Opera has many features especially designed with accessibility in mind, including the ability to customise the way you view websites, and also to zoom in!
